About

Peace Photo hosts photography workshops, specializing in traditional analog black and white photographic practices.

While it doesn’t have a set physical location, it aims to one day be a community hub for artists. The initial classes will be held at the darkroom of First Exposures in The Mission.

Chris S. A. Gould, owner of Peace Photo, has been teaching photography for 15 years at The Harvey Milk Photo Center and 5 years at Youth Art Exchange.

“In the dark room, kids don’t just develop film; they trade ideas, laugh, and build friendships. It’s a reminder that art doesn’t have to be a fancy matter. For Chris, the real takeaway isn’t the stack of prints his students leave with but the fact they felt comfortable, connected, and part of something bigger. In the end, the best thing he’s developed isn’t just photos, it’s the community in his classes.”
